The Branch of Goodness Agape Rehabilitation Center (The Branch) was founded September 11, 2006 in the State of Texas, City of Dallas by the Founder, Ms. Cheryl Davenport. The word Agape [pronounced a·gape /əˈɡāp/] is recorded from the early 17th century, and comes from Greek agapē, meaning "brotherly love".
Ms. Davenport's idea for the The Branch of Goodness is to help support formerly incarcerated individuals, homeless and minority community in rebuilding their lives through holistic rehabilitation services, including job training, housing assistance, counseling, and community reintegration, fostering dignity, opportunity, and long-term success.
The Branch of Goodness Rehabilitation Center organization originated in 1999. Ms. Davenport’s hard work, determination and dedication helped turn her vision into a reality and started formal operations in 2010. The Organization currently holds a 501(c)(3) non-profit status with the IRS.
We take a person-centered approach to rehabilitation and reintegration. Our programs address the core barriers faced by individuals returning from incarceration & poverty — including employment, housing, mental health, and social support. Through personalized case management, skill-building, mentorship, and strong community partnerships, we empower individuals to reclaim their lives, break the cycle of recidivism, and build a stable, meaningful future.
Job Readiness & Placement – We offer vocational training, resume workshops, and job placement services to help participants achieve financial independence.
Transitional & Supportive Housing – We provide access to safe, stable housing options as a foundation for long-term stability.
Mental Health & Counseling Services – We connect individuals with trauma-informed care, therapy, and peer support groups.
Legal and Life Skills Support – We help navigate reentry-related challenges like ID recovery, legal aid, and basic life skills.
